The Lagos State Police Command says it has deployed enhanced security measures across strategic locations following a circulating threat notice alleging a planned bandit attack on school children in the state.
In a statement issued on its official X handle, the Command said the report—purportedly pasted at a school—has been noted, but stressed that there is currently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent attack within Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has directed an immediate assessment of the situation and ordered what the Command described as “watertight security” around schools, public infrastructure and vulnerable communities.
According to the police, personnel have been deployed in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the protection of schools and maintain public order, while reassuring residents that Lagos remains safe and secure.
The Command urged parents, guardians and school authorities to remain calm and avoid panic, noting that all security concerns are being treated with seriousness and investigated thoroughly.
It warned that the state would not tolerate any attempt by criminal elements to spread fear or destabilise communities, adding that anyone found engaging in acts capable of causing panic would be dealt with decisively under the law.
Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and support security operations by providing timely and credible information, while making use of designated emergency lines to report suspicious activities.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, stressing that proactive policing measures are ongoing to prevent any threat to public peace.
