The Lagos Water Corporation has announced a temporary disruption of water supply in several parts of the state to allow for critical repair and replacement works at the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant.
Areas affected include Akiode, Ikeja, Magodo, Oregun, Ketu, Ojota, Maryland, Aromire, Ogudu, Gbagada, Shomolu, Ojuelegba, Oyingbo, Ijora Olopa, Agege and parts of Lagos Island.
In a statement, the Managing Director of the Lagos Water Corporation, Engr Temitope Mukhtaar, said the disruption became necessary to fix a leakage on the ND1600mm Adiyan raw water pipeline at the Akute Intake Station.
He explained that the continuous leakage has affected construction work on the Adiyan Phase II project, noting that persistent water discharge has saturated the surrounding soil, weakened ground stability and posed safety risks to heavy construction equipment.
Mukhtaar added that the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant will be shut down temporarily to allow for safe and effective repairs and ongoing construction at the Adiyan II intake.
He assured residents that work is ongoing to complete the repairs as quickly as possible and restore water supply to affected areas.
