The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has rescued three people trapped in a multiple-vehicle collision along the LASU-Isheri Road, near Iyana School, inward Igando.
According to the agency, the crash involved a MACK flatbed truck, a Toyota Sienna and two commercial tricycles. Preliminary investigations showed that the truck reportedly suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and collide with other vehicles.
LASTMA officials, who were on patrol in the area, responded swiftly and rescued the victims before coordinating the evacuation of the damaged vehicles with officers of the Iba Police Division.
The three victims, comprising one male and two females, sustained severe fracture injuries and were taken to El-Shaddai Hospital for medical treatment.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged operators of heavy-duty vehicles to carry out regular maintenance checks, especially on braking systems, to prevent avoidable accidents.
He also advised motorists to obey traffic regulations and report emergencies through the agency’s toll-free line, 3367.
