LASTMA Warns Lekki and VI Event Centres Ahead of Detty December

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority is tightening the screws ahead of Detty December.

LASTMA Director, Public affairs and enlightenment department, Adebayo Taofiq, says event centres and nightclubs in Lekki, Victoria Island, and Ikoyi will be sealed and their owners prosecuted if they cause gridlock.

And with December crowds rolling in, LASTMA says the chaos has to stop.

To show it means business, the agency recently sealed Vaniti Club House on Adeola Odeku in Victoria Island for repeatedly encouraging illegal roadside parking.

General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare Oki, had earlier said that this is just the beginning of a bigger clampdown.

He has ordered zonal commanders to step up patrols, especially on weekends when traffic gets wild.

Event organisers are now being told to get approval from LASPA and LASTMA, hire trained traffic personnel, and submit proper traffic plans.

The message is clear as Detty December approaches: if your event blocks the road, LASTMA is coming for you.
