Lawal Emerges APC Consensus Candidate for Zamfara Governorship Race

Governor Dauda Lawal has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election in Zamfara State.

The chairman of the APC Governorship Primaries in the state, Babagana Uba, declared Lawal the party’s candidate after an affirmation process conducted across the 14 local government areas of the state.

Lawal secured a total of 301,893 votes during the exercise, which was reportedly monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The primary election committee received and collated results from all local government areas, with the documents signed by the APC state collation chief, Abubakar Mohammed Nakwada, alongside other members of the party’s collation team.

Some of the results announced by the committee included Anka with 16,607 votes, Bakura 18,112, Birnin Magaji 15,440, Bungudu 24,061, Gusau 61,472, Talata Mafara 22,884, Tsafe 19,054, and Zurmi 22,506.

Reacting after his emergence, Lawal thanked APC members and residents of Zamfara State for what he described as their overwhelming support and confidence in his administration.

The governor said the endorsement would encourage his administration to intensify development projects across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and the economy.

“Today will remain a historic day in the political history of our state because all the major stakeholders in the state have unanimously come together under one umbrella as a united force,” he said.

Lawal also commended members of the primary election committee and other party officials for ensuring a successful exercise across the state.
