Lawal Wins LEADERSHIP Governor of the Year Award

Governor Dauda Lawal has been named Governor of the Year by LEADERSHIP Newspaper, a recognition of his administration’s strides in governance and development.

The award was presented on Thursday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja during the newspaper’s annual conference, which celebrates outstanding leaders.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Amina Mohammed delivered the keynote address, speaking on “Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria.”

According to Sulaiman Bala Idris, the governor’s spokesperson, the award honors Lawal’s “outstanding performance, courageous leadership, and transformative initiatives” that have put Zamfara on a renewed path of peace, progress, and sustainable growth.

“This national recognition reflects the strong foundation of excellence laid by Governor Lawal across security, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agricultural development,” Idris said.

Governor Lawal’s administration has previously been recognized by the Sun Newspaper and Zamfara was named the best state in the Northwest in the Primary Health Care Challenge.

Idris added that these accolades will inspire continued efforts to strengthen security, expand rural and agricultural development, improve healthcare and education, and build human capital across the state.

“The LEADERSHIP award reinforces our commitment to visible progress and restoring public confidence in governance,” the spokesperson concluded.
