Governor Seyi Makinde has assured families of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State that his administration is doing everything possible within the law to secure their safe release.
Makinde gave the assurance on Saturday during a visit to Ahoro-Esiele community, where he met with affected families, community leaders and residents at the L.A. Basic School field.
The governor said security agencies are working continuously on rescue operations, with regular meetings held with service commanders to review strategies.
He noted that the abductors are dangerous and unpredictable, adding that operational details cannot be disclosed to the public to avoid endangering lives.
Makinde also urged residents not to politicise the incident, stressing that all levels of government are working together to ensure the safe return of the victims.
He described the abduction of nursery and primary school pupils as unusual and deeply troubling, calling for calm and unity among Nigerians.
The governor reassured families that all available resources are being deployed, adding that efforts will continue until the victims are rescued safely.
