Makinde-Backed PDP NEC Appoints Turaki To Head Caretaker Committee

A factional National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has ratified the appointment of a 13-member caretaker committee led by Tanimu Turaki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The decision was reached at the Makinde-backed 103rd NEC meeting held Monday in Abuja.

The motion for the committee’s appointment was moved by Edo State PDP Chairman Tony Aziegbemi and seconded by the party’s ex officio member, Clement Fagboyede.

Taofeek Arapaja was named National Secretary of the committee, alongside members Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi and Okechukwu Obiechina.

The move is seen as part of efforts by the faction to stabilise the party’s leadership amid ongoing internal disputes.
