Elon Musk is on track to become the world’s first trillionaire after SpaceX filed for what could become one of the biggest initial public offerings in history.
According to details in the company’s prospectus, Musk owns about 5.1 billion shares in SpaceX and holds an additional 350 million stock options priced at $8.39 each.
If the IPO reaches the expected $2 trillion valuation, Bloomberg estimates Musk’s total net worth could soar to around $1.1 trillion.
Even if the company debuts at a lower valuation of $1.75 trillion, Musk would still likely surpass the trillion-dollar mark when his holdings in Tesla and other ventures are included.
The IPO is expected to price on June 11, with trading potentially beginning the following day.
Investor interest has intensified as markets continue to pour money into artificial intelligence and space technology companies.
Bloomberg Billionaires Index currently values SpaceX at roughly $1.03 trillion following private transactions and the earlier integration of Musk’s AI company, xAI, into the business.
The filing also revealed unusual performance-based compensation plans for Musk.
One package could award him an additional 1 billion restricted shares if SpaceX reaches a market valuation above $7.5 trillion and successfully establishes a permanent human settlement of at least one million people on Mars.
Another incentive package would grant Musk more than 300 million additional shares if the company approaches a $6.6 trillion valuation and deploys non-Earth-based data centres capable of generating 100 terawatts of computing power annually.
Musk’s wealth has risen sharply over the past year, largely driven by the rapid growth of SpaceX and its AI operations.
Earlier in 2026, his net worth reportedly climbed to about $852 billion after SpaceX merged with xAI in a deal valued at approximately $1.25 trillion.
