The National Business and Technical Examinations Board and the National Examinations Council have set up a joint technical committee to harmonize their operations and strengthen Nigeria’s public examination system.
The move was announced in a statement by NABTEB’s Assistant Director of Media and Protocol, Uchechukwu Olisah. It followed a meeting between NABTEB Registrar Dr Aminu Mohammed and NECO Registrar Prof Dantani Wushishi at NECO headquarters in Minna, where both management teams discussed ways to improve examination administration.
The 10 member committee, made up of five representatives from each body, will work on shared operational frameworks, align strategies and recommend how the plans should be implemented by both institutions.
Dr Mohammed said closer cooperation among examination bodies is important for national development, while Prof Wushishi described the partnership as a key step toward stronger institutional collaboration.
The committee is also expected to explore wider coordination with other examination agencies, including the West African Examinations Council and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, while respecting each organization’s separate mandates.
