The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has dismissed claims that the Federal Government ordered it to halt enforcement of regulations on sachet alcohol and 200ml PET bottle alcoholic products.
In a statement, Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye called the report “false and misleading” and stressed the agency has received no official directive to suspend its regulatory duties.
“NAFDAC continues to operate strictly within its statutory mandate and in line with government policies. We remain committed to public health, regulatory compliance, and transparency,” she said.
The agency urged the public, media, and industry stakeholders to rely only on verified information from official government channels and warned against spreading unverified reports that could create confusion, economic disruption, or public anxiety.
NAFDAC reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding public health, economic stability, and national interest.
