The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has sealed several shops and business premises at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos State, over suspected dealings in unregistered cosmetic products.
NAFDAC disclosed this in a statement shared on its X account on Saturday, saying its Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Cosmetics Division, carried out a two-day enforcement operation at the complex on August 26 and 27.
The agency said the operation was aimed at removing specified unregistered cosmetic products from circulation and covered several premises where the products were found.
NAFDAC said the affected premises were locked and placed under NAFDAC HOLD labels pending further regulatory action, while samples of the suspected products were collected for investigation.
It added that invitation letters were issued to the owners and operators of the affected businesses for interrogation and necessary regulatory proceedings.
The affected premises include Vincentmo World, Amazon City of Fragrance, Aza-King Store Perfumes, PP2 & Fragrance International Ltd., Fragrance Doctor Shop and God & Obaino Fragrance Store.
NAFDAC said the enforcement action is part of its efforts to ensure that cosmetic products circulating in Nigeria meet required safety and registration standards.
