The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled its third National Executive Committee meeting for Monday, October 26, in Abuja, where it will unveil its National Campaign Council and present candidates with Certificates of Return.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, adding that the meeting would also feature the presentation of the party’s statement of account by its National Treasurer.
The NDC says the move reflects its commitment to transparency and accountability in managing its finances.
It has also challenged other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress, to make their financial records public.
The party attributed its limited financial resources partly to the economic hardship in the country, claiming that about 80 per cent of its candidates could not afford the Expression of Interest forms.
It said it had to provide the forms to the affected candidates free of charge, contrary to speculation about its finances.
According to the statement, the National Campaign Council will cover presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly campaigns.
The meeting will hold at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, at 10 a.m.
