Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arrested a China-based Nigerian businessman, Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, and two Angolan nationals, Mbandu Martins Makiadi and Ngoma Wilson Fernando.
They excreted a combined 236 wraps of cocaine at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Ibeanu was intercepted on February 4 while boarding a Qatar Airways flight from Kano to China via Abuja/Doha and excreted 52 pellets weighing 735.95 grams.
The Angolans were arrested the same day in Kano during clearance for an Istanbul-bound Ethiopian Airlines flight; Mbandu excreted 76 wraps weighing 920 grams, while Ngoma expelled 108 pellets weighing 1.33kg.
They allegedly said they were promised $3,000 each for delivery in Turkey.
At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, NDLEA foiled an attempt by convicted drug kingpin Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, currently serving a five-year sentence at Ikoyi Correctional Centre, to export 1.10kg of cocaine concealed in garri to London via Virgin Atlantic.
A staff member of his company, Dimeji Express Logistics, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan, was arrested after presenting the consignment.
Another 1.70kg of skunk hidden in jerry cans and bound for the UK led to the arrest of cargo agent Mustapha Quddus Opeyemi and the principal suspect, Adelaja Taiwo Adetayo.
In Abuja, officers intercepted 59.2 grams of “Canadian Loud” concealed inside a children’s toy guitar, leading to the arrest of Henry Onuma in Life Camp.
In Lekki, Lagos, a raid on a duplex uncovered a synthetic cannabis (“Colos”) production site after 73 cartons of nitrous oxide were seized; 13.2kg of Colos and precursor chemicals were recovered, and suspects Amos Innocent and Victor Oyedeji arrested.
Other operations included the arrest of suspected dealer Oluwayemisi Bunmi in Ibadan with 1.189kg of Colos, skunk, 320g of methamphetamine, ₦2.975m and two vehicles; seizure of 105,400 tramadol pills from Kamilu Abdullahi in Kwara; and the arrest of five suspects in Edo State with 563.5kg of skunk.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended officers and urged sustained efforts under the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse campaign.
