The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have signed a joint framework to boost coordination against drug trafficking and transnational crime.
The agreement was reached Monday at NDLEA headquarters in Abuja, where NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa and Customs Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi signed a communiqué outlining the plan.
Both agencies said rising cross-border crime demands a unified response.
The framework aims to improve intelligence sharing, cut operational overlap and strengthen joint enforcement.
“This partnership will create a seamless flow of intelligence and enhance our collective response,” the agencies said.
Under the deal, NDLEA and Customs will form joint task forces at key entry points, establish a secure intelligence-sharing platform and set up a standing committee to resolve disputes.
They also pledged to respect each agency’s legal mandate while deepening collaboration at seaports, airports and land borders.
Marwa and Adeniyi described the pact as a national priority, saying it will strengthen border security and curb the flow of illicit drugs without disrupting legitimate trade.
