NDLEA Destroys N301bn Worth Of Illicit Drugs in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has destroyed 329,865.585 kilogrammes of illicit drugs and psychotropic substances worth an estimated N301.058 billion in Lagos.

The destruction, carried out following a Federal High Court order, involved drugs seized in concluded cases and abandoned seizures across the Lagos axis between April 2025 and May 2026.

NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, warned drug barons, traffickers, financiers and dealers that the agency would no longer allow them to operate with impunity.

He said 246,864.535 kilogrammes were seized by the NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command, while 83,001.05 kilogrammes were recovered by commands at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Tin Can, Apapa and Marine areas.

The substances included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis strains such as Canadian Loud and Skunk, tramadol, codeine syrup, opioids, ephedrine and khat leaves.

Marwa said the seizures would deny criminal networks more than N301 billion in potential proceeds, while also disrupting the financing of organised crime, terrorism and other violent activities.

He also announced that the NDLEA would soon receive additional arms, ammunition, operational vehicles and other equipment to strengthen its operations.
