NDLEA Hits Hard: 77,792 Arrests, 14.8 million Kg Drugs Seized in 5 Years

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded major successes in Nigeria’s fight against drug trafficking, with 77,792 arrests, including 128 drug barons, 14,225 convictions, and over 14.8 million kilograms of illicit drugs seized in five years.

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) announced these figures at the 11th CCEO Awards in Abuja, saying, “Nigeria is no longer a safe haven for drug cartels.

Our operations have disrupted major trafficking networks and sent a clear message to criminals.”

He urged officers to maintain aggressive, intelligence-led enforcement.

“We will not rest until every trafficker, and every gram of illicit drug is removed from our streets,” Marwa said.

The agency also treated 32,442 drug users and conducted 13,735 awareness programs nationwide, reinforcing prevention efforts.

Marwa thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support and called for stronger partnerships with international and local stakeholders to sustain progress.
