NDLEA Nabs ‘Kanmo-Kanmo’ 12 Years After Killing of Officers

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a long-wanted drug kingpin, Lekan Jimoh, popularly known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” ending a 12-year manhunt linked to the killing of three NDLEA officers.

Jimoh was apprehended on Friday, January 16, 2026, at his hideout in Owode, Ogun State, following credible intelligence.

NDLEA tactical teams recovered 69 kilograms of skunk, a strain of cannabis, from the premises.

The suspect had been on the run since June 15, 2014, when he allegedly mobilised armed thugs to attack NDLEA operatives attempting to arrest him, leading to the death of three officers, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure.

He escaped at the time, but the agency sustained its pursuit.

In a related operation in August 2023, NDLEA operatives recovered 1,922 kilograms of skunk from Jimoh’s residence in Ado-Odo, Ogun State, though he again evaded arrest.

The property, used as a drug warehouse, was later forfeited to the Federal Government.

Reacting to the arrest, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), described it as “a triumph of justice.”

“You may run and hide for a season, but the long arm of the law will eventually find you,” Marwa said.

“This arrest closes a painful chapter and honours the memory of our officers who paid the ultimate price.”

Meanwhile, NDLEA recorded multiple arrests and seizures across Jigawa, Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Oyo, Kwara, Enugu and the FCT, including the recovery of large quantities of skunk, tramadol, codeine syrup and cocaine, as the agency intensified its nationwide crackdown on illicit drugs.
