The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received 180 stranded and vulnerable Nigerians who voluntarily returned home from Libya.
They arrived at the Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at about 7 p.m. aboard an Air Libya flight with registration number 5A-BAE.
NEMA said the group included 147 adults, 19 children, and 14 infants. Forty-six of them were identified with medical conditions and received immediate treatment on arrival.
Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service conducted biometric registration and documentation to ensure proper profiling and smooth reintegration.
The returnees were also provided with food, water, medical care, counselling, and logistics support as part of the government’s humanitarian assistance.
NEMA said the operation, coordinated with the International Organization for Migration, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and Port Health Services, shows the Federal Government’s continued commitment to the safe and dignified return of Nigerians stranded abroad.
