Nigerian Defence Academy Warns Public Over Fake Admission Notice

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has officially dismissed a fraudulent admission letter circulating on social media and messaging platforms, warning the public not to fall for the scam and to rely only on official sources for information about entry into the prestigious military institution.

In a statement issued by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya, the NDA said the fake invitation, which claimed to have been issued to an individual named Abubakar Washima, did not originate from the academy and should be completely disregarded.

The fake document falsely suggested that the recipient had been selected for admission, potentially misleading unsuspecting applicants and their families.

The academy reminded the public that all legitimate admission and screening invitations are released only through the NDA’s official website (www.nda.edu.ng) and published in recognised national newspapers.

It urged prospective applicants and the general public to verify admission-related information through these official channels and to report any suspicious correspondence for prompt verification.

Kovangiya also warned that individuals found creating or distributing fraudulent documents could face legal consequences, stressing that such acts undermine trust and exploit people’s hopes of gaining entry into the academy.

The NDA’s clarification follows a surge in online scams and fake documents purporting to offer admission or other opportunities, a problem that has affected several organisations and institutions in recent months.

The warning is part of ongoing efforts by the academy to protect applicants from fraud and ensure that information about its admissions process is transparent and secure.
