NNPC Ltd Pledges Peace and Sustainable Energy Development in Ogoniland

The Group CEO of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and responsible energy development in Ogoniland, Rivers State.

Speaking during a Federal Government delegation visit, Ojulari called the renewed engagement a “demonstration of hope” and a “new beginning” built on partnership.

He acknowledged Ogoniland’s difficult past but stressed that building a better future requires mutual trust and respect.

He praised the leadership of the Presidential Committee on Ogoni Re-entry and National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for their role in restoring confidence.

Ojulari highlighted that NNPC Ltd. prioritizes environmental protection and community wellbeing alongside resource development.

He announced that 30 Ogoni indigenes have been offered employment and are expected to begin work in January 2026.

Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara thanked President Bola Tinubu for fulfilling commitments to improve life in Ogoniland, including infrastructure projects and job creation.

National Security Adviser Ribadu also praised local cooperation for the region’s growing peace.

Ogoniland hosts OML-11, Nigeria’s largest onshore oil block, operated by NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL), holding over 40% of the country’s recoverable reserves.
