"No leader in this country will be permitted to get healthcare outside of this country."
This is the position of Adeniyi Kunnu, the spokesman of Dumebi Kachikwu, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mr. Kunnu said this while responding to a question on Hard Facts about the ADC's core principles.
He stated that the party plans to pass a "Patriot Act Bill" if it wins the 2023 presidential election.
Specifically, he revealed that the Patriot Act Bill will prohibit public office holders from seeking medical treatment outside the country in order to improve the quality of healthcare for Nigerians.
When asked if the proposed bill will not go against the principle of freedom of movement, the ADC spokesperson said, "this is not so much about freedom of movement but it's about making people really take their responsibility."
This presents an opportunity for the "revamping of the nation's health sector," he added.
