#OccupyNASS Protest Continues Into Day Two in Abuja

The #OccupyNASS protest entered its second day on Tuesday, as citizens continued to gather around the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, demanding the inclusion of real-time electronic transmission of results in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

The #OccupyNASS protest entered its second day on Tuesday, as citizens continued to gather around the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, demanding the inclusion of real-time electronic transmission of results in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

The demonstrations continued on with the presence of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who was seen among protesters at the venue.

Protesters, made up of civil society groups, activists and concerned Nigerian citizens, remained resolute despite a heavy security presence around the complex.

Security agencies barricaded key access roads leading to the National Assembly, restricting movement into the area.

The barricade drew reactions from protesters, who described it as an attempt to limit public engagement, while security officials maintained that the measures were put in place to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Organisers said the protest is aimed at drawing attention to issues of governance, transparency, and electoral credibility, including calls for improved real-time transmission of election results.

As of the time of filing this report, the protest remained peaceful, with chants and placards dominating the scene.

The protesters insist the action will continue until their demands are addressed.
