The Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Let’s Grow Iruland Together (#LeGIT) vision as he marked the sixth anniversary of his coronation.
Speaking during the anniversary celebration in Lagos on Sunday, the monarch said the #LeGIT agenda remained focused on building an Iruland that is Lagos-aligned, environmentally sustainable, globally competitive, innovation-driven and technology-enabled.
According to him, the vision is aimed at creating a resilient, economically vibrant and inclusive kingdom that can meet the needs of both present and future generations.
“Our vision is to build an Iruland that is Lagos-aligned, environmentally sustainable, globally competitive, innovation-driven and technology-enabled", he said.
The traditional ruler noted that while significant progress had been recorded since his ascension to the throne in 2020, more work remained to be done.
He therefore urged residents and stakeholders to embrace unity, collaboration and innovation to accelerate the kingdom’s development.
Reflecting on his six-year reign, Lawal highlighted achievements in cultural preservation, institutional strengthening, community development and economic growth.
“Through strategic partnerships and a clear development agenda, we have continued to position Iruland as a hub of culture, enterprise, innovation and sustainable urban growth,” he said.
The monarch expressed gratitude to the people of Iruland, traditional institutions, community leaders, development partners and the Lagos State Government for their support over the years.
The event attracted prominent dignitaries, clerics, traditional rulers, including the Oba of Lagos, senior police officers and community stakeholders.
Among those who paid tribute were Lawal’s former colleagues from Cadet ASP C/19/1996 of the Nigeria Police Force, who commended his contributions to the development of Iruland and wished him continued wisdom, good health and strength.
