Victor Osimhen has successfully undergone surgery following an injury sustained during UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash between Galatasaray and Liverpool.
The injury occurred during the second-leg match at Anfield, when Osimhen collided with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté in an aerial challenge.
Despite attempting to continue with a bandaged arm, the Nigerian striker was substituted at halftime as swelling and pain worsened. Galatasaray went on to lose 4-0 on the night, crashing out 4-1 on aggregate.
In a statement, the club confirmed that “Victor Osimhen… underwent a successful operation today” at a hospital in Istanbul, performed by club doctor Yener İnce.
The club added, “We wish our player a speedy recovery and hope he returns to the pitch as soon as possible.”
