The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has accepted the outcome of the poll and congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke, two weeks after the election.
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner of the election.
In a statement on Saturday, Oyebamiji thanked APC members and supporters for their sacrifices, resilience, prayers and support throughout the campaign.
While accepting the result, the APC candidate, however, said the violence recorded during the election and the lives lost must not be forgotten.
He called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incidents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Oyebamiji said his commitment to the development of Osun remains unwavering, adding that where legitimate concerns exist, his camp would continue to seek justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means.
He also urged APC members and supporters to close ranks and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He called for mobilisation towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the success of APC candidates in Osun State.
Adeleke had earlier extended an olive branch to Oyebamiji and other candidates after his re-election, urging them to set aside their differences and support his administration.
The governor described the election as a contest with no victor and no vanquished.
