Oyo Government, Police Tighten Security as Rescue Efforts Continue

Security has taken center stage in Oyo State following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

Governor Seyi Makinde says efforts to secure the release of the victims are ongoing, assuring families that security agencies are working tirelessly to bring them home safely.

According to the governor, while operational details cannot be made public, the state government is fully engaged with security agencies and remains committed to the rescue mission.

As part of fresh measures to tackle insecurity, the government has restricted the movement of commercial motorcycle riders, popularly known as Okada operators, between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. across the state.

The Oyo State Police Command has also launched a statewide crackdown on vehicles and motorcycles with fake, hidden, unregistered or illegally covered number plates.

Police say the exercise is aimed at improving crime detection and preventing criminals from concealing their identities.

Command spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade warned that offenders will be arrested and their vehicles impounded.

The police have also increased patrols, stop and search operations and deployments to strategic locations across the state.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime.
