Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will participate fully in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Tv on Thursday, Saraki said the party remains committed to resolving its internal challenges to ensure it fields candidates across all elective positions.
He noted that Nigerians who experienced the PDP while it was in power would play a role in ensuring the party’s continued relevance and presence on the ballot.
Saraki stressed that unity among party stakeholders has become a top priority, regardless of ongoing disagreements within the party.
“I’m happy to say that despite whatever side anybody finds himself or herself in these disagreements, everybody has resolved that this is the number one priority for all of us,” he said.
The former Senate President added that key figures within the party, including Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed, and other stakeholders, are aligned on the need to ensure the PDP remains a viable platform ahead of the elections.
According to him, any issue capable of preventing the party from fielding candidates must be urgently addressed.
“Anything that will harm that or make it impossible must be set aside and resolved. It has not been easy to reach this position, but we hope to maintain it and move forward,” he said.
Saraki also highlighted the importance of having a functional National Working Committee, noting that a stable leadership structure is critical to organizing primaries and managing the party’s electoral processes.
The PDP has faced internal disputes in recent months, raising concerns about its preparedness for the 2027 polls. However, Saraki’s remarks suggest ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at stabilizing the party ahead of the next general elections.
