Pep Guardiola to Leave Manchester City After Final Game of Season, Ending Decade of Dominance

Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, bringing an end to a decade-long reign that transformed the club into one of Europe’s most dominant sides.

The club announced on Friday that the 55-year-old Catalan manager would depart after the final game of the season, a year before his contract was due to expire.

Guardiola arrived in England in 2016 following highly successful spells with Barcelona and Bayern Munich and quickly established City as a dominant force in English football.

During his tenure, Manchester City became the most successful club in the Premier League era in terms of domestic trophies, combining tactical innovation with sustained consistency in performance.

His time at the club was also defined by a fierce rivalry with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, whose side pushed City through several tightly contested title races and helped define a new era of English football.

City won multiple Premier League titles under Guardiola, alongside domestic cup success, including an FA Cup victory last week at Wembley.

He also secured a League Cup title earlier this year, adding to a long list of honours that cemented his reputation as one of football’s most successful managers.

The club did not immediately announce a successor.
