Peter Obi Media Demands Direct Engagement Between Tinubu and Nigerians

The Peter Obi Media Reach has criticised President Bola Tinubu over reports that the demands of governance may keep him away from the 2027 campaign trail, arguing that he must personally defend his administration’s record before Nigerians seek to renew his mandate.

In a statement issued on Thursday, POMR spokesman Idris Zekeri Jnr said the President could not delegate accountability to political allies and party leaders while expecting them to secure votes on his behalf.

Zekeri argued that political surrogates could communicate the President’s promises but could not answer questions about his administration’s performance or the economic challenges facing Nigerians.

He challenged Tinubu to explain how the administration’s economic policies had affected the cost of food, transportation, electricity, housing and other essential needs.

The POMR spokesman said governance should not be used as a reason to avoid public scrutiny, adding that Nigerians deserved direct answers from the President on his policies, promises and record in office.

He maintained that any candidate seeking another mandate must be prepared to face voters and defend their performance, insisting that political allies could not take the place of the President in answering questions about the state of the nation.
