The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria says filling stations across the Federal Capital Territory may begin reviewing petrol pump prices in the coming days as new petrol products enter the market.
IPMAN National Publicity Secretary, Chinedu Ukadike, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Abuja.
Ukadike said marketers were preparing to adjust their prices and sales strategies but were yet to receive a definite date for the arrival of the new products.
He said the review would begin once the products start arriving and marketers make fresh purchases.
“Once the new products begin arriving, marketers are expected to respond quickly by reviewing their prices and updating their product offerings,” Ukadike said.
He added that marketers could begin purchasing the products within days, depending on when the process officially commences.
Ukadike said any price adjustments would be made in line with existing rules and regulations.
The development follows a recent increase in the gantry, or ex-depot, price of petrol by the Dangote Refinery.
According to NAN, the refinery raised its ex-depot price from N1,165 per litre to N1,185, N1,200 and N1,265 within the past week.
The increases have already been reflected in petrol pump prices at several filling stations across the FCT.
The latest development has raised concerns among motorists, with many calling on the Federal Government to intervene and take measures to stabilise petrol prices.
