The Delta State Police Command has arrested 22 suspected drug dealers and rescued two minors during a raid on suspected illicit drug dens and criminal hideouts in Ozoro and Abraka communities.
The operation, carried out on July 21, followed credible intelligence and led to the arrest of 19 males and three females allegedly involved in the sale, possession and distribution of illicit drugs.
Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said the rescued children were found in a suspected drug den allegedly operated by their father.
He added that the minors have been placed in protective custody and will be handed over to the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, described the discovery as disturbing, assuring residents that the command will continue intelligence-led operations to tackle drug-related crimes across the state.
