Police Arrest Alleged Fake PFIPC DG Adeniyi Adeyemi After Court Issues Bench Warrant

Police have arrested Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), in Osun State, just hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Adeyemi was apprehended on Tuesday following the court's order directing security agencies to arrest and produce him before the court after he failed to appear for his arraignment on charges bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation.

Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court issued the bench warrant after the prosecution informed the court that Adeyemi had repeatedly failed to appear for trial.

Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the circumstances surrounding the arrest or when the suspect will be transferred to Abuja to face the charges.

The defendant is standing trial over allegations linked to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, which the Federal Government has repeatedly described as a non-existent agency.

Before his arrest, Adeyemi had claimed he stayed away from court because of alleged threats to his life.

He also denied going into hiding, insisting he was willing to defend himself before the court.

The case has drawn widespread public attention following allegations that forged appointment letters and other official government documents were used to present the PFIPC as a legitimate federal agency.

Adeyemi is expected to be produced before the Federal High Court in Abuja as proceedings in the case continue.
