The Nigeria Police say they will not release details of the recent strike in Sokoto State, describing it as a defence matter best handled by the military.
Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police are aware of what happened but will not speak publicly on the operation.
He confirmed there was cooperation with other security partners but insisted that explanations should come from defence authorities.
Hundeyin said the police received reports that remnants of ammunition affected nearby communities, prompting the immediate deployment of explosive ordnance disposal teams to secure the areas.
He added that security agencies are monitoring possible movements of dislodged terrorist elements and will continue operations, noting that sensitive details are being withheld to protect ongoing missions.
