Police Mourn 17 Officers Killed In Terrorist Attack On Army Training School In Yobe

The Nigeria Police Force says 17 police officers were killed during a terrorist attack on the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the officers were undergoing specialised operational training when terrorists launched a coordinated attack on the facility in the early hours of May 8.

The police say several Nigerian Army personnel also lost their lives while repelling the attack.

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, described the slain officers as courageous and dedicated personnel committed to national security.

The police chief also assured Nigerians that security agencies would continue efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.
