President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated General Christopher Gwabin Musa as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence, following the resignation of Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar.
In a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President expressed full confidence in General Musa’s ability to lead the ministry and strengthen the country’s security framework.
General Musa, a seasoned soldier born in Sokoto, served as Chief of Defence Staff from 2023 until October 2025.
He boasts an illustrious military career, including leadership roles in key operations against insurgency in the Lake Chad region.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy and is a recipient of the prestigious Colin Powell Award for Soldiering.
President Tinubu’s nomination awaits Senate confirmation.
