A private jet operated by Triton Aviation has made an emergency landing in Abuja after losing a door shortly after take-off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday.
The CL60 aircraft, with registration number T7-SEI, was heading to the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos when the crew declared an emergency about three nautical miles from Abuja airport.
The crew issued a Mayday distress call while the aircraft was climbing through 3,000 feet.
The aircraft landed safely on Runway 22 about 14 minutes after the distress call.
Airport emergency and medical teams had been placed on standby, while the missing door was reportedly recovered by farmers in the Abuja area.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the incident but referred further comments to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, which has deployed investigators.
The number of passengers on board has not been confirmed, and Triton Aviation is yet to comment.
