A Qatar Airways flight carrying 248 passengers and 12 crew members made an emergency landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
After developing a technical fault while flying over Nigerian airspace.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the aircraft sent a distress signal to air traffic controllers late Friday night.
The agency immediately activated its emergency response plan, alerting airport fire services and rescue teams to stand by.
Despite tense moments as the plane descended, the pilot executed a safe landing on the runway, guided by air traffic control, and all passengers and crew disembarked without injury.
LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, praised the swift, coordinated response that helped avert a potential disaster.
Following the landing, technicians inspected the aircraft and moved it to the apron for further checks and repairs.
The airline had not provided an official statement at the time of reporting.
Officials from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the emergency landing and said details would be released as they become available.
