The Rivers State Government has denied reports of a renewed dispute between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly over the delay in passing the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The government, in a statement issued Wednesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, said the budget proposal was still undergoing the required legislative process.
Nzeshi said Fubara remained committed to working with lawmakers for the development of the state.
He said the governor had already presented the 2026 budget proposal to the House of Assembly and expressed confidence that it would be passed after due consideration.
The statement comes amid renewed attention to the relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State, following Fubara’s return to the political camp associated with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The government urged those promoting what it described as negative narratives to desist, saying Rivers State needs peace and harmony to sustain development.
