A court in Moscow has ordered the confiscation of 123 real estate assets belonging to Jehovah's Witnesses, transferring the properties to the Russian state.
According to Moscow's court service, the assets were previously registered under the Swedish branch of Jehovah's Witnesses.
They include 63 residential and commercial properties covering more than 11,000 square metres, as well as 60 plots of land spanning 5.6 hectares across Russia.
Russia outlawed Jehovah's Witnesses as an "extremist organisation" in 2017, a decision that led to the prosecution and imprisonment of many members.
However, the European Court of Human Rights ruled in 2022 that the ban was unlawful.
The latest court order marks another step in Russia's crackdown on the religious group, with ownership of the confiscated properties now transferred to the state.
