Sanwo-Olu Unveils Upgraded Roads in Badagry

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inaugurated a 16.4-kilometre network of roads in Badagry, describing the development as a strategic step to open up the region for economic growth, tourism, and improved transportation.

The projects include the reconstruction of the 3.3km Hospital Road (Phase 1), construction of the 7km Samuel Ekundayo-Toga Road (Phases 1 and 2), and rehabilitation of the Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ilado-Imeke Road (Phase 3).

“These roads will have a direct positive impact on the lives of Lagosians, especially residents in the Badagry Division,” the governor said during the commissioning.

He added that the roads are vital to enhancing trade and commerce, stimulating the tourism sector, and providing alternative routes to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

According to the governor, the newly commissioned roads connect key communities such as Imeke, Ajido, Iworo, and Epeme, while also linking to previously completed infrastructure like the 6.65km dual carriageway and a 300-meter bridge.

“These road projects are more than infrastructure; they are enablers of economic opportunity and community development,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to expanding road networks across the state, announcing that roads in Oko Afo, Ilogbo, Eremi, and Pota would be commissioned soon. Plans are also underway to connect Hospital Road to Topo, further strengthening the state’s multi-modal transportation system.

“Badagry remains a key economic hub for Lagos and Nigeria, given its international boundary and role as a gateway to several West African nations,” he added.
