Former Senate President Bukola Saraki is pushing back against fresh claims tying him to the 2018 Offa robbery.
He says the allegations are not only false, but politically motivated.
In a statement, Saraki insists he had no role, directly or indirectly, in the incident, noting that the case was thoroughly investigated back in 2018.
He says legal advice from the Office of the Attorney General at the time found no evidence linking him to the crime.
According to him, prosecutors clearly stated there was no case of conspiracy, armed robbery, or homicide against him.
Saraki also points out that suspects in the case were tried, convicted, and their convictions upheld on appeal.
Now, he’s accusing the Kwara State Government of reviving the issue for political reasons.
He describes it as harassment and says his legal team is ready to challenge the move in court.
Saraki also claims there were attempts to drag victims’ families into a civil case against him but says that effort did not succeed.
