The CEO of Lead Integrated Security Solutions, Ifeanyi Obinali, warns that insecurity continues to devastate communities across Nigeria despite repeated government assurances.
Speaking on Nigeria Info 99.3’s #HardFacts, Obinali said thousands of Nigerians are killed or kidnapped every year, with some turning abduction into a lucrative business.
“Some non-terrorists have decided this is a way to make money,” he said.
Obinali cited official trackers showing over 5,500 people died from violent incidents in 2025, while nearly 3,000 were abducted in the northwest alone between July 2024 and June 2025, with Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, and Sokoto most affected.
Recent attacks in Kwara and Borno state claimed hundreds of civilians and security lives.
He criticized government inaction, saying billions earmarked for security have not curbed violence.
“Corruption and sabotage within the military leave soldiers vulnerable,” he said. “Government says one thing but does another.
This is deliberate, and it’s costing lives.”
Obinali urged the government to engage international partners, including the United States, for strategic and operational support in the Northeast and Northwest.
“The Nigerian military is capable, but they need boots on the ground, intelligence, and proper strategy,” he added.
Highlighting accountability gaps, he questioned elected officials who secure votes but fail to protect constituents in insecure regions.
“We need solutions that are implemented, not just blue papers gathering dust,” he said.
Obinali’s comments underscore the human cost of Nigeria’s insecurity crisis and the urgent need for coordinated, transparent, and strategic action to safeguard citizens and restore stability.
