Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Freetown, Sierra Leone, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
According to a statement issued Sunday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, the summit will bring together West African leaders, ministers, senior government officials and regional institutions at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre.
The meeting is expected to focus on key policy decisions aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and advancing peace, democracy, economic growth and regional integration across West Africa.
Shettima will also join political and business leaders from across the region to review progress on ECOWAS priorities, including security, democratic governance, trade, infrastructure, economic integration and sustainable development.
The summit comes as West African nations continue to confront security threats, political transitions and efforts to deepen economic cooperation.
The Presidency said the vice president will return to Abuja after the conclusion of the summit.
