Defending Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions Nigeria will take on Ghana in an international friendly on Saturday as part of preparations for the 2026 tournament in Morocco.
The Super Falcons opened their training camp in Casablanca on Monday ahead of their Group C opener against Malawi on July 28 as they chase a record extending 11th WAFCON title.
Head coach Justine Madugu supervised the team’s first training session with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and forward Asisat Oshoala among the players already in camp.
Midfielder Toni Payne is also expected to join the squad after completing her move from Everton Women to Inter Milan Women.
Saturday’s match against Ghana’s Black Queens will revive one of Africa’s biggest women’s football rivalries.
Nigeria will begin the defence of their WAFCON title against Malawi on July 28 before facing Zambia on August 1 and Egypt on August 5 in their remaining Group C matches.
