Team Nigeria has emerged as Africa’s best performing nation after seven days of competition at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The National Sports Commission says Nigeria has won 16 medals, made up of eight gold, five silver and three bronze, placing the country fifth on the overall medal table.
The medals have come from Para Powerlifting, Weightlifting, Athletics, Boxing and 3×3 Basketball.
The commission says Nigerian athletes have delivered historic victories and impressive performances across several events.
With the Games entering the final stages, Team Nigeria will be aiming to add more medals before the competition concludes in Glasgow.
