Tinubu Approves Nigeria’s Bid to Host 2026 CAF Awards

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved Nigeria’s proposed bid to host the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony and the Confederation of African Football’s 48th Ordinary General Assembly.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, the approvals were announced during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, following a meeting between Tinubu and Patrice Motsepe.

Other officials present at the meeting included Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Ibrahim Gusau, president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, special adviser to the CAF president, and Samson Adamu, CAF’s acting general secretary.

The CAF Ordinary General Assembly, scheduled for October, brings together presidents of CAF’s 54 member associations, representatives of zonal unions and senior football administrators across Africa.

The CAF Awards is one of African football’s flagship events, recognising outstanding players, coaches and football stakeholders from across the continent.
