President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the Corporate Headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) in Abuja, marking a key milestone in Nigeria’s tax reform programme.
The event drew top government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, governors, ministers, and private sector leaders.
The newly completed 16-floor complex will house about 3,000 staff as part of efforts to modernise tax administration and strengthen revenue collection.
NRS Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji said the project reflects the success of reforms, describing Tinubu’s leadership as transformative.
“Without any fear of contradiction, you are the greatest gift bestowed on this republic,” Adedeji said.
He said the headquarters symbolises that reform is “not abstract, but real… not theoretical, but implemented,” adding that tax reforms require discipline, patience, and coordination across institutions.
Tinubu signed the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act in 2025, officially transitioning the Federal Inland Revenue Service into the NRS.
The rebranding took effect in January 2026 to improve efficiency, unify revenue collection, and enhance compliance.
Adedeji also praised the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and staff of the agency for their role in driving the reforms.
