Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu remains fully committed to securing the release of schoolchildren and other citizens abducted across the country.
Speaking after a special Juma'at prayer held at the National Mosque in Abuja to mark this year's Democracy Day celebrations, Shettima said the Federal Government would continue pursuing measures aimed at restoring peace and security nationwide.
The Vice President stressed that the administration would not relent in its efforts to tackle insecurity, expressing confidence that the country's security challenges would eventually be overcome.
His remarks come amid growing concern over the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, a development that recently prompted President Tinubu to approve the recruitment of additional security personnel.
Shettima urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue praying for peace, unity and stability, noting that the government remains determined to safeguard lives and property across the country.
He also paid tribute to past national heroes for their sacrifices in sustaining Nigeria's democratic journey, calling on citizens to remain united and focus on the values and interests that bind them together despite their differences.
