Tinubu Hosts AFRICOM Commander for High-Level Security Talks in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday hosted a high-level delegation from the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), led by its Commander, General Dagvin Anderson, at the State House, Abuja, in a meeting focused on security cooperation.

The engagement, attended by Nigeria’s top security chiefs, was disclosed by the Special Assistant to the President on social media, Dada Olusegun, in a post on X.

According to Olusegun, President Tinubu received General Anderson alongside the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the service chiefs, and the United States Charge d’Affaires in Nigeria, Mr. Keith Heffern.

On the U.S. side were General Anderson, AFRICOM Command Sergeant Major Garric M. Banfield, Senior Foreign Policy Adviser Ambassador Peter Vrooman, and other members of the delegation.

President Tinubu was joined by the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd); Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu; and heads of Nigeria’s intelligence and security agencies.

While details of the discussions were not disclosed, the meeting underscores ongoing defence and security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States.
